Building Your Campaign Audience

How to add recipients to a campaign from WhatsApp contacts, groups, or a CSV import, and how duplicates and opt-outs are handled.

A campaign’s audience can be built from three sources, and you can combine all of them in the same campaign.

WhatsApp Contacts

Pick individual chats directly from your WhatsApp, with search and filtering by your custom WhatsApp labels. This works whether or not the contact has already been saved in your CRM.

From a Group

Pick a WhatsApp group and pull in all of its participants as recipients in one action.

CSV Import

Download the sample CSV template, fill it in, and upload it. The required columns are phone and first_name; optional columns are last_name, email, city, state, country, address, and source. The system matches existing contacts or creates new ones from the file, and the import runs in the background with progress you can check. Contacts brought in this way are added to your CRM as customers, not just to this one campaign.

Duplicates and Opt-Outs

The same person picked from more than one source (e.g., in a WhatsApp group and in your CSV) is automatically deduplicated.

Any number already on your opt-out list is automatically excluded from the audience — you’ll see a running “excluded — already opted out” count as you add recipients.

Reviewing and Removing Recipients

While a campaign is still a draft, you can review the full recipient list — each with the exact message they’ll receive — and remove individual people if needed. A paused campaign can also be reopened to add more recipients. Once a campaign is actively Sending, its audience is locked in.
